So where then is the epicenter of Costa Rica’s super sweet nirvana? That depends on what you are looking for. If you are into exploding domes of lava, Toucans and whitewater rafting, Arenal is hard to beat. For deep impenetrable jungle, try Corcovado on the Osa Peninsula. But if you want active, relaxing living in the driest, sunniest, most livable climate, nothing can beat the cattle- ranching province of Guanacaste.
In the northwest of the country, Guanacaste borders the Pacific Ocean and experiences month after month of perfect dry weather, with a brief refreshing rain period September thru November. Since the opening of Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, it’s a one-hour drive to the coast and Tamarindo, a laid back surf village with shops, restaurants and a touch of civilization.
If you continue south you’ll find the Hacienda Pinilla, an amazing resort area containing the 5-star JW Marriott hotel, a championship golf course open to the public, horse stables and more. But it’s not until you get past the resort that life begins to slow down as you approach pristine beach environment of Avellanas and Playa Negra. It’s here, among the teak forest and roaring surf that you’ll find most of our projects.
