Costa Rica

Welcome to Costa Rica. Say it 50 times. Costa Rica. What comes to mind? Images of how this beautiful glorious world should be. Warm, tropical, a palette of a zillion colors. In a strange way, Costa Rica is like a club—if you’ve been here you know exactly what we mean, but how can you explain the blue of a Shinning Honeycreeper to those who haven’t?

Despite its small size, Costa Rica is wedged in the tropics between the North and South American continents and equipped with an amazing geography that includes seven different micro-climatic zones and 5% of the planet’s biodiversity, greater than Europe and North America.

And unlike many of its Central American neighbors, Costa Rica is a peaceful, politically stable democracy renowned for equality and the ridiculously safe feel of a small town in America. There hasn’t been a military here since 1948, maybe because priority is given to the protection of nature. But best of all? We’ll let you choose: the beneficial tax regulations or the fact that it’s so close to Chicago, Toronto, Houston, LA and Miami you can find yourself in the jungle or riding waves by lunch.

With no military to fund, Costa Rica focuses on environmental protection with 27% of the country consisting of interlocking national parks. You’ll find some of the world’s most active volcanoes, 9000 identified species of vascular plants, 900 trees, 850 birds, 200 mammals, 35,000 insects plus thousands of undiscovered ones, 200 reptiles and 14 turtles.
